I as many others, were shocked and saddened to receive the news of Steve’s passing. Steve and I served in the Marine Corps together. We spent time in the same unit, were bunk mates and later roommates. Steve was much more to me than someone I served with or a roommate, he was my brother. I am so glad that we were able to connect in Reno last year before his passing. When we were in the Corps together, Steve always seemed like Superman to me. Never knew anyone that could run, hump and do the O course like Steve. I remember during one hump I was exhausted and I looked back at Steve and he was chewing on a piece of grass and looked like he was on a Sunday morning walk. Steve looked at me and said “ You need me to carry anything for you Corkey?” That sentence was typical Steve, always willing to help but joking with you at the same time. My sincere condolences to Steve’s family during this time and want you to know others all over the country morn with you. Semper Fi brother, Til Valhalla!
