Alfred J Johnson Sr passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19th at Madigan Army Medical Center on Joint Base Lewis McChord. He was 82 years old.
Alfred served 33 years in the Army enlisting in 1960 and served as infantry in the 101st Airborne Division. He attended Memphis State University and the University of Tennessee obtaining his Masters in Social Work. Alfred J Johnson Sr was commissioned in 1978 into the Medical Service Corps and deployed to Grenada, Desert Storm, and Somalia.
During his service in Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne in the early 1980s he was instrumental in developing the Family Support Group system.
He has lived in Olympia since 1991 and kept active after retirement working at the Fort Lewis SCUBA program, helping countless lives in the community, and taking care of his loved ones.”
Alfred was born in Norfolk Virginia in 1941 and is survived by his wife of 55 years; Martha Springer Johnson, his brother Bert Johnson, two sons, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
