We met Andrew during the pandemic. We found him sleeping on the side of the road near Half Moon Bay, CA. He was in pretty bad shape so we put him in our car and drove him to San Jose, CA. to try and put him on a bus back home to Washington. He had no I.D. and no money so we had to jump through many hoops to get him back home safely. We ended up taking him in for a few days. HE WAS & STILL IS 1 OF THE BEST HOUSE GUESTS WE HAVE EVER HAD. Polite, helpful, kind and generous with his stories.
We finally reached someone at Greyhound who would help us get Andrew onto a bus back home to Washington. We paid for his ticket and took him up to Hayward, CA. to meet up with his bus. He was full of smiles that day. The photo we are sharing is Andrew as we put him on the bus back home.
We never heard from Andrew again and that worried us so I continued to search for him online a few times a year.
We are heartbroken to find out this very day that he is gone. What a terrible loss.
God bless your beautiful soul Andrew. You will be missed by my husband and I —- BUT the story I wrote about our encounter with you will live on forever. We still share that story with people and we feel blessed to have been part of your life’s story.
